“Numbers on the Barbell, Not on the Scale”: Female Athletes Discuss Changing Body Perceptions

How’s this to start your day: Some of the top female athletes in strength sports are giving their own takes on “strong is beautiful” — several of whom give very personal insights into what the movement has meant to them — in a video put together by Morning Chalk Up.

Fitness athletes Carleen Mathews, Emily Bridgers, Maddy Curley, Sarah Loogman, and Melissa Doss — along with 2016 Olympian and Team USA Weightlifter Morghan King — submitted their clips to the video compilation, which was released on September 21st.

It’s a quick video (under 2 minutes long) and worth your watch to see how changing societal perceptions are finally catching on in the strength community and beyond.
